Every date, category and rate is UK-native. That is the whole point.
Everything runs 6 April 2026 → 5 April 2027, with the real deadlines built in: 31 January online filing, 31 July payments on account, 5 October registration.
Expense categories follow the SA103 self-employment pages, so filling in your return is copy-paste, not archaeology.
The new 55p-per-mile simplified rate (first 10,000 miles) is already wired in — most trackers still use the old 45p.
Designed in pounds, printed on A4. No dollar signs, no Letter paper, no "deductions" language.
The kind of things we dig up for customers — six favourites:
Britain switched to the Gregorian calendar in 1752 and lost 11 days overnight. Rather than collect 11 days of extra tax, HMRC's predecessor simply shifted the year end from 25 March to 5 April — and we've filed to that strange date ever since.
The simplified rate for cars and vans rose from 45p to 55p per mile for the first 10,000 business miles. On 10,000 miles that is £100 extra you can claim versus last year's rate.
Paper returns are due 31 October, online returns 31 January. Filing online buys you three extra months — and HMRC processes online refunds faster too.
After your first Self Assessment bill you often pay twice by 31 January — this year's tax plus a "payment on account" towards next year. A reserve habit (and our tracker's estimate) softens the blow.
Earn under £1,000 from side income? You may not need to register at all. Above that, registration is required by 5 October following the end of the tax year.
Parking tickets and ordinary commuting are never allowable — but the parking on a business trip is. Knowing the line saves both money and embarrassment.

No. Everything we sell is an organisational and educational tool. It does not file anything with HMRC and cannot account for every personal circumstance. Check GOV.UK and a qualified professional for advice.
This edition uses the 2026/27 figures published on GOV.UK — Personal Allowance £12,570, Class 4 National Insurance 6% / 2% over £12,570 and £50,270, and the new 55p mileage rate. Assumptions are editable and clearly labelled.
The tax estimate covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Scotland has its own income tax bands; the trackers still work for record-keeping, but treat the estimate as a planning starting point only.
